Sludge Drying Application
Drying or dehydration is the process of removing vaporisable substances such as water from solid materials in order to slow or stop microorganism growth or chemical reactions.
In traditional drying methods, heat is gradually transferred from the surface of the dried material to the interior due to the temperature difference between the hot surface of the product and the colder interior during the drying process.
Industrial microwave drying is a drying method that reduces the moisture content of materials using microwave energy. This method is frequently used in industrial processes because it is faster and more energy efficient than other drying methods.
Sludge drying is the process of converting liquid waste into solid form. This process is used in wastewater treatment plants, food processing plants and other industrial plants. Microwave drying can also be used in the sludge drying process and offers advantages over other drying methods as a faster and more energy efficient method.
Microwave energy generates heat energy by vibrating water molecules. This vibration causes the moisture in the material to evaporate rapidly. Microwave drying uses a specially designed microwave drying device so that the sludge is heated by microwave energy and the moisture evaporates quickly.
Sludge microwave drying devices include a number of components such as a sludge feeding hopper, microwave generator, microwave chamber, hot air fan and dehumidifier. The sludge feed hopper allows sludge to be fed into the device and the microwave generator generates microwave energy. The microwave chamber is the area where the microwave energy will be applied to the sludge. The hot air fan blows hot air to accelerate the drying of the sludge to remove the moisture. The dehumidifier helps the sludge to lose more moisture by reducing the level of moisture in the air.
Microwave drying accelerates the drying of sludge and consumes less energy than other drying methods. Also, since microwave energy directly vibrates the water molecules, the deterioration of the chemical and physical properties of the sludge during the drying process is also reduced. Therefore, microwave drying gives better results in sludge drying process than other methods.
